East Asia, China, mid-20th century. Three small carved bone weights in the form of heads and figures, made to hang from the ends of a sash or cord.

Weights like these kept sashes and cords hanging straight and also served as small toggles or ornaments, in a tradition related to Japanese netsuke. Field collected, 2004.
