Mechanical Tin Cowboy Toy from Germany

- Country: Germany

- Size (cm): 22
- Material: Tin
Western Europe, Germany, ca. 1950s. An antique mechanical tin cowboy made by the German toy company Technofix and constructed from two sheets of lithographed tin with a hollow interior. He wears a wide yellow hat, a red-plaid shirt and blue trousers, and the key-wound clockwork mechanism allowed him to walk or rock.
Technofix, founded in Nuremberg in 1945 by Gebrüder Einfalt, was one of the city’s best-known post-war makers of mechanical tin toys, and American Western themes were especially popular in the 1950s export market.
