Pre-Columbian, Venezuela, Río Motatán, Trujillo, Timoto-Cuica culture, ca. 700 to 1200 CE. Three miniature terracotta figures with broad, wing-like heads, applied eyes and short limbs.
The Timoto-Cuica were an indigenous group comprised primarily of two tribes, the Timotes and the Cuicas, who lived in the Andean region of western Venezuela. Their figures, often with broad flat heads, are thought to have been made as offerings. Private California collection, gifted to Lola Ambrosi in the late 1960s.
