On May 27, 2026, Judith and I left on a two-week road trip across the center of France to La Rochelle and back.

January 14 we flew to Rome. We spent two weeks there and took the train to Siena for three nights. Finally we took a road trip south back to the Rome airport to return February 3.

In late August Judith and I went to Rome for 10 days on our way back to New York. We were exploring the possibility of replacing Mane with Rome only changing the season from summer to winter. In February 2025 Judith and I went on a four-day cruise on the Amazon. We flew to Iquitos, spent four days on the boat then spent three nights in Lima. We had lunch at Maido, then ranked fourth on the S.Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.

On November 21, 2024, Judith and I went on a two-week road trip to California. We flew to SF and stayed at the Claremont in Oakland. September 21 I took a solo trip to Nashville. I visited the Country Music Hall of Fame, the National Museum of African American Music, and spent two days with Betty and Kory.

On September 5 we flew to Bologna for three days and then took the train to Venice for the Biennale.

Judith and I went to Edinburgh and the Scottish highlands. By train we visited Oban and Fort William. Among the shows we saw were Diva, Fame Hungry, I’m Almost There, I Wish You Well, Carmen, So Young, A Letter to Lyndon B. Johnson, and Cyrano.

On February 18 Judith and I left on an 11-day trip to Finland. We spent a day in Helsinki at the Hotel Kämp, then flew up to northern Lapland and stayed at the Northern Lights Village, where we went snowmobiling and drove a dog sled.

In January 2024 I took a solo trip to Arkansas. I visited Crystal Bridges, Eureka Springs, Hot Springs, and Little Rock.

On September 16 I flew to Columbus for a tour of my southern Ohio ancestors’ homes and graves. I visited Lancaster, Zaleski, Carroll, Jackson and Chillicothe, Ohio. I also toured the Indian mounds outside Chillicothe and did research at the Ross County Historical Society there.
