This is a facebook post from the owner of the Broad Street Books, which I visited.

From the “Why Open A Bookstore” Dept.: Here’s Daniel Finnegan, caught wandering down Broad Street on Tuesday afternoon. Where else but in a book store would you meet a one-time Silicon Valley mogul with homes in NYC and Provence, eager to talk about the sad truth that “people on the coasts don’t appreciate the rest of the country”? He wondered about Selma and its history. He asked about the economic health of the city. His questions brought home the fact that Selma is not just another small Southern town. Selma matters to the country and to the world. Thanks to Mr. Finnegan for his visit.

Next I drove to Montgomery, Alabama (approx. 50 miles) and visited the Alabama State Capitol, and took awalking tour of downtown including the Hank Williams Museum and the first White House of the Confederacy.

I stayed at the Miseltoe Bough 497 Hillabee Street, Alexander City, Alabama 35010, United States
