Mumbia Night Tour

Meet your guide at the Regal Cinema in Colaba to begin your 2.5-hour small-group tour of Mumbai at night. Board an air-conditioned minivan for Marine Drive. At night the scenic route, nicknamed the Queen’s Necklace, glitters with illuminated streetlights. Observe local families at the action-packed Chowpatty Beach, a popular spot for eating coconuts and ice cream. You’ll make a quick stop for Indian snacks before continuing to a Jain temple that is considered one of the most intricately decorated temples in Mumbai. Your guide will tell you about the spiritual beliefs and practices of an estimated 4.2 million religious followers of Jainism as you pass the ornate structure. Follow up with a stop at another holy site, Banganga Tank. Initially built in 1127 and surrounded by Hindu temples, the tank emits water that is believed to have special healing powers. Here, you’ll see Hindus bathing in spring water rumored to originate from the Ganges river. Next, visit Kamala Nehru Park, named after the wife of India’s first prime minister. Situated atop Malabar Hill, the green and tranquil park offers splendid views over the city, including Marine Drive, Chowpatty Beach and the Arabian Sea. Get a street view of the ostentatious to one of the most expensive homes in the world, the Antilia building, before driving through Kamathipura, renowned as the world’s largest red-light district. (Please note that narration about Kamathipura can be omitted from the tour if children are present.) You’ll glimpse the bustle of Chor Bazaar from your vehicle en route to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), formerly known as Victoria Terminus Station. You might recognize it from its starring role in the award-winning 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire. Marvel at the 19th-century Victorian Gothic revival architecture of this UNESCO World Heritage site while enjoying a cold drink before your small-group tour concludes here.
