BA in Sociology from Berkeley
In June 1973 I was award a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with honors in Sociology and Speech. My senior thesis was titled “Newton’s Sleep.”

UC Berkeley
Came to Berkeley in 1972 after a year in Oregon. Patty and I were living together. Completed my second senior year writing my honors thesis “Newton’s Sleep.” Stayed at Berkeley through my masters and PhD then took positions teaching and doing research. Moved to Washington in 1980.

Kidney Stones
Around 1976 I began to have kidney stones. I would go to the emergency room for an overnight stay. For the next few years I had one or two a year. By 1984 they became less frequent. My last large one was in Japan 2006.
